***Below are letter written by Dr. Kurt Messner who is buried at the Ft. Lewis Main Cemetery. These letters are the translated versions from the original which were were in German. He wrote these to a family friend named Olga Mills. Olga and her husband were both artist and have a collection at the Smithsonian  These letters are part of that collection.
